Bangalore bound Abishek is ready to make dreams come true

Abishek is ready to study hard in the land that he loves.

For Abishek Bunwarie, the Indian culture has always been close to his heart.

Despite growing up in the town of Dannhauser, Abishek gained popularity for his Indian dancing, becoming a regular at Indian functions and weddings.

In July, Abishek will get one step closer to that culture as he jets off to India for three years. The youngster has been given a scholarship to study Hospitality Management at the Acharya Institute of Management Science (AIMS) in Bangalore.

“I’m over the moon. It’s really exciting and a huge contrast from Dannhauser,” he said. With the language barrier not being an issue, as he speaks it, and cuisine being also something he’s used too, Abishek is looking forward to the move.

“The only challenge may be the weather and the country is totally different.”

However, Abishek has already researched the area and is thankful that he’s the only person in Northern KZN to be given the opportunity.

His parents, though, have mixed feelings. On the one hand they are sad to see him go, but on the other hand, they are proud of him and urged him to study hard and do his best. As excited as he is, Abishek too, has things he will miss.

“I’m going to miss my comfort zone and the home-cooked food as well.”

With the land of Bollywood awaiting him, Abishek is excited to get closer in the industry.
However, his main aim is to focus on his studies.

“I want to focus on my studies and achieve success in securing a degree behind my name first.”

Abishek passed immense gratitude towards the Consulate General of India and The Indian Council for Culture Relations, especially Cheryl Bhanwarilal for her continuous assistance in making this a success, a special thanks to his dear mother, Ashika Bunwarie, as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Ajishka and Suveer Ramgoolam for their help, support and encouragement.

“A big thanks also goes out to Suvana Ramgoolam who helped me every step of the way.”

With the land he loves just a few weeks away, Abishek is going to be making his dreams come true.
