Although a Rensburgdrift resident had secured his home by locking the doors and properly closing the windows, he fell victim to a house break-in last Wednesday.
The man reportedly left the house at about 7pm and returned the next day at 9.15am. To his shock he found that his house was broken into and several items, including clothing, a double bed set and speakers were missing.
A case has been opened and police are investigating. In a separate incident two suspects aged 28 and 31 appeared in the Estcourt Magistrates Court on Wednesday, June 24 after they were arrested following a house break-in in Papkuilsfontein earlier this year.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel TM Mabaso said that on May 4, a homeowner in Papkuilsfontein secured his home at about 7.45pm but when he returned just after midnight, the house had been burgled.
“A Toshiba laptop, BlackBerry and Nokia cell phones, a Samsung tablet and a DVD player were taken,” commented LT Col Mabaso. The suspects were subsequently arrested, charged and appeared in court.
