IN JUNE we commemeorated the 39th annuversary of the events on June 16, 1976, in Soweto. The youth of 1976 valued education, but we can’t say the same about our young people today.
* The number of dropouts is increasing; our youth needs to be self-starters and not expect the government to do everything for them; every young generation writes its own history.
* Like the youth of 1976, we are the only ones who have to find solutions to our problems.
* Your values as a person are something that nobody can take away from you, they are something you are born with, and that can shine in you for all to see.
* Don’t forget that there is no South Africa, no KZN, no cities and no communities , if there is no you.
* In South Africa we seem to want everything for free. This encourages laziness among our kids who are supposed to work hard at their studies, to pave their way to a brighter future.
* Children’s rights must go hand in hand with responsibility; sex has always been there and is not going anywhere; why are you rushing into something that is not going anywhere?
* This province still leads the country in HIV infections statistics. The youth of today must ask themselves how they want to be remembered by future generations of young people.
