No joy for aggrieved Pepworths
While Mrs Pepworth is on the road to recovery and is doing well after she suffered hospital horrors, the family still feel as if their complaint has been forgotten about and was in vain.

The Pepworth family are up in arms after waiting four months for a ‘redress meeting’ between the family and the Dundee Provincial Hospital.
This meeting came after 80-year-old Myrtle Pepworth had broken her left hip but had traction placed on her right leg on March 2. Mrs Pepworth not only endured the pain of incorrect traction, but also suffered the wrath of what her son describes as a ‘rude and disinterested nurse’.
The family have waited for this meeting to surface, but have received no joy, despite a media statement from the Hospital on April 6, stating a redress meeting. The statement reads as follows: “Dundee Hospital acknowledges your complaint and confirms to have had a patient by the name: Myrtle Pepworth that was admitted at Ward B, who was admitted on date March 2″.
After an in-depth investigation our findings have revealed that the traction on the patient was applied on the wrong leg by mistake and was subsequently corrected. This incident was uncalled for and totally unacceptable, but the nurse futher stated that during this incident Mr Pepworth, the son of the patient, was continuously uttering negative speech which resulted in the nurse becoming annoyed which led to this sour outcome.
We believe in our staff and are entitled to provide the best quality healthcare to our patients without compromise. We also respect the rights of our patients and the concerns of those who love them while in our care. We therefore would like to call upon the Pepworth family to our institution to a redress meeting concerning this incident, seeing that both parties had no motives to harm but intentions of giving the patient the best healthcare. The family will be contacted shortly after this and after having finalised all procedures”.
Despite the statement, Mr Bryan Pepworth (Myrtle Pepworth’s son) has received no calls, messages or emails to redress the situation.
