Officers make sure vehicles are roadworthy

The aim of the operation was to check driver's licences and ascertain whether vehicles were roadworthy or not

Despite the cold winter breeze blowing this morning (Thursday), Public Safety officers were out in full force to make sure our roads are safe.

Traffic officers were seen in Queen Street pulling vehicles over. The aim of the operation was to check driver’s licences and ascertain whether vehicles were roadworthy or not. While some drivers panicked in anticipation of having their cars checked, the majority were pleased that the officers are doing their job.

“Vehicles that are not roadworthy not only are a hazard to the driver, but to fellow motorists and pedestrians. Well done to the officers for performing their duties,” said a delighted motorist.

Motorists are known to fume and complain when a traffic officer issues them a fine, but one must bear in mind that this is not done in spite – they are doing their jobs that in turn limit the number of accidents on our roads. Many lives are saved through roadblocks like this one, so the officers are to be commended on their dedication to their duties. Road safety and making sure people adhere to the rules of the road are their top priorities!
