The Paruk’s Hardware Blood Buddy Memel to Newcastle Walk is an iconic event on the town’s calender.

With virtually the entire community rallying up to support the athletic walk, this year will see 20 per cent of the proceeds going to the SPCA, ensuring that the rights of community’s animals will be upheld, while caring for those furry orphans currently residing in the shelter.

With the event set to take place on August 1, the Cause for Paws team is rallying up the entire community in support of the SPCA

Susan Pitout, a member of the team, said Cause for Paws not only had 10 team members, but had also received overwhelming support from seven other participating teams that would also be walking for their cause at the Memel to Newcastle Walk.

Last Saturday, the Cause for Paws team raised awareness at Amajuba Mall to share their message with shoppers.

Newcastillians furthermore had the opportunity to donate dog food, blankets and money towards the initiative.
