Mandela Day goes to the dogs

Last Friday, SA Calcium Carbide (Pty) Ltd (SACC) staff dedicated 67 minutes towards aiding the SPCA.

“It is not an organisation supported through funding from the Government and it relies on the community’s support,” said Neraksha Bhowani, SACC’s Human Resources Manager.

SACC donated 25 bags of dog food weighing 25kg each, eight bags of cat litter and 35 blankets.

“Too often we see cases of animal abuse and neglect and we would like to do our bit for the animals. Animals should be loved and cared for, not hurt,” Ms Bhowani said.

SACC is encouraging the community to support the SPCA, whether on special days such as Mandela Day or otherwise.

SPCA office manager, Heather Gero thanked SACC for the generous contribution.

“The support the SPCA received was extremely appreciated. It is always amazing to see the community getting together to show their support and to know we are appreciated,” she said.
