New hope for Glencoe Sports Ground
Municipal Assistant Manager, Jurgen Wichmann, confirmed that this new revamp came after community raised the issue of the deteriorating grounds and said that while the other issues are being addressed fencing will only be put on the budget in December.

A glimmer of new hope has been restored at the sports grounds in Dahlia Road, Glencoe. This comes after the infamous grounds dubbed as a ‘not so sporty sports grounds’ received a revamp after the long grass had been mowed, litter cleaned and goal posts have been repainted.
The community commended this effort and though it pales in comparison with the other pitfalls experienced at this grounds, it does indicate new hope.
The other pitfalls which have been highlighted in previous editions of the Northern Natal Courier include: rampant littering, discarded condoms and broken bottles.
The grounds are not only strewn with litter, discarded condoms and broken bottles, but the area is also not fenced.
Many residents also complained that the premises are used for illegal activities, such as the smoking of dagga and acts of public indecency.
These pitfalls however seem to be on the agenda for redressing and will no longer be in existence much to the joy of the community.
