Visitors allegedly assaulted the patient, Sizakele Dlamini after a verbal confrontation near the hospital’s reception area.
Despite several attempts to obtain comment from Newcastle Police, no response has been forthcoming since July 3.

The Newcastle Advertiser requested police issue a statement briefly outlining the details of the incident.
An official source claimed police are currently in possession of the CCTV footage of the alleged assault.
It is yet to be disclosed whether the footage will be made public upon conclusion of police investigations.
Regardless, the Newcastle Advertiser wished the patient a speedy recovery, and trust the matter is being thoroughly investigated.
