Man scammed out of R2000

A man demanded cash from an unsuspecting victim.

A man was swindled out of R2000 in a space of two days. Mr Moola opened a case of theft in 2013 when his water pump was stolen. The pump was not found until last week when he received a call from an anonymous man who claimed he knew where the pump was and he can bring it to him.

The unknown suspect allegedly demanded a R1000 to transport the pump to him. Mr Moola deposited the amount into a Capitec account. On July 28, the suspect called again and demanded that he deposit another R1000 into the account, which he did. The suspect tried his luck again on July 29 but Mr Moola got suspicious when he could not find the man where they were meant to meet in Dundee. Mr Moola opened a case of fraud at the police station. The pump, however, was never recovered.

The suspect is still unknown and the case is still under investigation.
Communications Officer, Captain Mbense, issued a strong warning to the community to not deposit money just because you are told to do so. Make sure to tell the cops first.
