Victims were left reeling in despair after a crime wave hit Dundee last week. An armed robbery was reported as were three home burglaries and two assaults with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).
Armed robbery
Two gun-wielding robbers targeted Exact shortly before close of business on July 30 and made off with an undisclosed amount of money and cellphones.
The men entered the premises under the pretense of being shoppers. They suddenly produced guns and forced staff to go to the back of the shop and lie down.
According to SAPS Communications Officer, Captain Mbense, two other people, who travel with the manageress, were also caught up in the armed robbery when they arrived at the shop and they too were bound with cable ties.
The pair of robbers took their bounty and made off.
Burglaries
The three house-breakings that rocked Dundee occurred every day from July 25-27. In the first incident on July 25, four dinner-sets valued at R4 800, were stolen from a house in Beaconsfield Street after a door was forced open. The case is under investigation.
The second house that was hit was on July 26 in Sibongile. Thieves made off with a kettle, television, computer, blankets, shoes and speakers.
The goods worth R8 500 went missing after a padlock was broken.
The third burglary appears to have taken place over three days while the owners of the Watt Street house were away.
Burglars struck on July 23 to July 27 and helped themselves to a car radio, computer, grinder and drill valued at R16 000.

Assaults
Consuming liquor and being merry turned nasty for a man who sustained stab wounds and other injuries when a gang fight broke out in Lindelani on July 25.
The man was treated at Dundee Hospital and thereafter reported the case to the Police. No arrests have been made yet.
The second assault case was on July 26, during the early hours of the morning, when a fight broke out at a tavern in Sibongile.
According to police, ‘a man had been out drinking when he was accosted by another man who claimed, the victim had assaulted his brother.
Without further ado, the man broke a beer bottle and stabbed the victim numerous times”.
The perpetrator has been arrested, but police are yet to reveal his identity.
With the recent spike in crime, Captain Mbense, warned the public to refrain from criminal activity, He also made specific mention to the sale of stolen possessions.
Captain Mbense also stressed that if anyone is found in the possession of stolen goods taken during housebreaking they will be charged with housebreaking and theft.
