Chinese will be taught in SA schools

South African pupils are going to have one more language to learn come January.
It seems the South African Democratic Teacher’s Union’s (SADTU) objections have fell on deaf ears, as government prepares for the national roll-out of Mandarin in schools.

“The roll-out of Mandarin will be incrementally implemented in schools as follows: Grades 4-9 and 10 will be implemented in January 2016, followed by grade 11 in 2017 and grade 12 in 2018,” reads a circular that the Mail & Guardian got hold of.
Teachers’ Union, SADTU, however, is not happy and has labelled the move as Chinese imperialism taking hold in South Africa.
