DSS choir soars through district competition
Dazzling in their exquisite attire, they achieved second place and thereafter represented the entire circuit at Ladysmith
The Drakensberg Secondary School Choir under the leadership of Mrs TS Nxumalo has given meaning to the motto “With Sweat and Toil to the Stars.”
They participated in the Annual Culture Competition, in the category of “Spiritual Gospel without Instrument”.
Their journey to stardom began on May 30 when they participated in Wembezi at ward level and achieved first position in their category.
The choir proceeded to Lambert Park to participate at circuit level on July 31. Dazzling in their exquisite attire, they achieved second place and thereafter represented the entire circuit at Ladysmith on August 15.
It was indeed a tough competition at the district level as they were against schools from Bergville, Ladysmith and Wasbank.
Through the faith they had in each other and the omniscient God, they attained an astounding first place yet again.
As they proceed further to represent the district at the provincial competition on September 12, they wish to thank everyone who has supported them thus far, the school, educators, parents and their vocal coaches.
An appeal is made to all those who wish to donate towards their trip to contact Mrs TS Nxumalo on 036 352 5146 and the school urges the public to continue supporting their talent.
