Cooking up a storm at RJ’s

Little chefs cooked up a storm this week.

As part of RJ’s Grill Express’s ongoing initiatives, Grade 2 pupils from St Dominic’s Academy were hosted at a ‘design your own sandwich’ excursion on Monday and Tuesday.

Franchisees, Rahila and Yusuf Timol said the aim was fun for their guests.

“The pupils could be an RJ’s junior chef for a while.”

The inspiration for the excursion stemmed from Rahila and Yusuf’s daughter, Rumaysa, who loves to help out her parents in the RJ’s kitchen.

“She is very passionate about cooking,” Mrs Timol gushed.

The Timol family offered both Grade 2 classes of St Dominic’s the opportunity, allowing the pupils a glimpse into what happens behind the counter, before delicious meals are served up front.

On October 3, another junior cooking competition will be hosted for the public.

“It’s basically a day in the life of an RJ’s chef,” Mr Timol concluded.

After taking a tour of RJ’s Grill Express, the pupils put together their own culinary masterpieces, some demonstrating food pairings out of the ordinary.

Think carrots, cucumber, egg, Nutella and sprinkles.

Once all were done, the pupils tucked into their creations, enthusing about combinations and providing a fresh approach to the known world of gastronomy.
