The Newcastle Clivia Interest Group hosted the annual Clivia Show at Drakensberg Primary School on Saturday.
Clivia enthusiasts displayed their favourite clivia plants for judging, and gave members the opportunity to interact with breeders to acquire knowledge on the plants, as well as being able to mingle with like-minded clivia enthusiasts.
Five clivia enthusiasts competed in this year’s show and 85 plants were entered for judging.
Henry Howard took first, second and third place with his exquisite plants and won the category for ‘most points awarded’.
Scholars also got involved in the floral affair. Altogether, 139 pupils took part in the creative colouring in competition for the pre-schoolers and primary school pupils.
The Newcastle Clivia Interest Group thanked Francois Gouws from Pannarotis for sponsoring the prizes for the colouring in competition.
The school hall was jam-packed with proud moms and dads during the crowning of Mr and Miss Clivia and Mr and Miss Clivia Junior.
Congratulations to this year’s Mr and Miss Junior Clivia (Age 7-9 years), Banele Msimango and J’Lee Willemse, and Mr and Miss Clivia (age 10-13 years), Oteng Nkosi and Zamokuhle Madonsela.
