Owner ‘heartbroken’ after pet’s gruesome death

The Scottish terrier cross was found lying next to the pool used as a dumping site at 52 Bulwer Street.

The dreadful sight of a dog, stoned to death and left near a pool for two days to decompose, left the owner, who does not wish to be identified, ‘heartbroken’.
Bonnie, as the dog was fondly known, met her gruesome death after she went missing from her home on the evening of August 13. After frantically searching for two days, to no avail, the owner’s helper received a ‘tip-off’ from a young boy, who told her where the dog was lying dead. The Scottish terrier cross was found lying next to the pool used as a dumping site at 52 Bulwer Street.
The complex, which appears to be in a state of neglect, is used as a temporary housing for numerous tenants.
The SPCA and the police approached the tenants living in the complex and questioned them about the dog.

According to Kavish Ramcharan, SPCA Inspector, the story changed three times. “First it was said the kids living in the yard found the carcass outside the yard. They then brought the carcass in the yard and threw stones at it. Secondly, they said the dog was found dead under a car in the yard and when the Dundee SAPS questioned them again they said the dog was run over outside the yard,” he reported.

Bonnie’s owner expressed how ‘heartbroken’ she is over the death of her dog.  “We really love our animals and for someone to kill our dog like that is cruel” she lamented.

To date the SPCA have not heard anything regarding the death of the dog although the owner has opened a case at the police station.

“A postmortem could not be performed on the dog due the carcass being swollen,” said Dr Tony Grace, a local vet.

The SPCA has urged that anyone with information regarding the incident, to contact the SPCA.
