Michaelis Schule – Great results on the tennis courts

An enthusiastic tennis team left Vryheid on Monday to play against Huttonpark. The team consisted of seven girls and one boy.

 

The u/11 boys played cricket against Nardini on Monday.

Nardini batted first and scored a total of 34 runs. The best bowler was Liam Watson with 4 wickets for 3 runs, well done Liam. Michaelis went in to bat and after 10 overs they scored 91 runs. The best batsmen was Reghan Elliot with 54 not out, congratulations Reghan!

On Thursday our u/13 team had their turn to play against Nardini. They batted first and made 16 runs all out. Michaelis retired after 15 overs with a score of 85 runs. Cameron Aitken and Reghan Elliot retired on 20 runs each. The best bowler was Reghan Elliot who took 3 wickets for 4 runs.

Mini Cricket: On Wednesday, our Mini Cricket teams took part in a tournament hosted by Lucas Meyer. The u/7 results were as follows: Michaelis lost against LMS A 15 – 19 and they beat Lüneburg 15 – 13 and LMS B 25 – 13. The u/8 team, which was a mixed team of boys and girls, also won two of their matches and lost one. They played against LMS A boys and lost 14 – 12 they beat Lüneburg boys 31 – 28 and LMS B (mixed team) 48 – 15. The u/9 team only played one match against LMS and won 44 – 25. Keegan Gevers scored the most runs as well as the most wickets together with Anthony Green-Thompson. Thank you to LMS for inviting us and hosting this tournament and well done to all our mini cricketers!

Tennis: An enthusiastic tennis team left Vryheid on Monday to play against Huttonpark. The team consisted of seven girls and one boy. Every player had to play singles and doubles matches. They were focused and determined to give of their best. Well placed shots were played and some players even surprised themselves! Three of the eight singles games were won by Michaelis players and our doubles players managed to win all four of their matches. In the end Michaelis won 44 games and Huttenpark 40. Well done, Michaelis Tennis Team! Thank you to Huttenpark for hosting us and to Laura for keeping our parents updated with photos and results. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the tennis parents for encouraging their children to play and for the weekend tournaments that are always so enthusiastically organised!
