Vryheid Landbou High School – Closer to nature
Landbou had the annual Wool School from September 9 to 11. We want to thank BKB for coming every year for this short course. The grade 11 learners thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot. We also want to congratulate Mr Van Der Schyff for the work he and the farm workers are doing. According to BKB, we have the best wool in years.
LANDBOU would like to thank Food and Trees for Africa (FTFA) and Ms Fekile Khubeka, who held a workshop at Landbou.
Eduplant did a hands-on training to show how to use permaculture in a vegetable garden. Diana Mngomezulu and Thandokuhle Gama, two learners of the school, also attend this workshop and will help the school to use what they have learned in the school’s vegetable garden. Landbou received 300 vegetable plants, donated by the FTFA organisation.
Landbou also had sport this week against Vryheid Comprehensive. A warm thank you to Comprehensive and the Landbou learners for a lovely day. Landbou’s 1st team won 4-1, and the 2nd team drew 2-2. The girls’ soccer team won 31-1. Comprehensive’s 1st team won the netball 12-8 and Landbou’s 2nd netball team won 12-10.
Landbou also had the IsiZulu orals which took place on Monday, September 7, as well as the annual Afrikaans Olympiad for juniors.

Our secretaries enjoyed their day and were spoilt rotten! Thank you very much to NRS who arranged Secretary Day for the local schools.
