THE 2015/2016 league started off last weekend with two Twenty/20 matches being played at Cecil Emmett Park.

On Saturday, Wicket Wasps hosted Dumbe on a good batting wicket. Dumbe batted first and scored a good 171/5 in their allotted overs, with Marcel Hinze (38) and Raimo Prigge (33) top scoring. The best bowling figures for Wicket Wasps came from Andrè Ellis (4-0-25-2) and Andrew Brooks (4-0-24-1).

Juan Freyer (4-0-31-2) and Charl Beneke (4-0-44-2) were Dumbe’s top bowlers. Dumbe won the match by 8 runs.

On Sunday Mr X played the Gladiators. Gladiators won the toss and elected to bat. Despite the good batting pitch, they were bundled out for just 66 runs in the 13th over. Juan Swanepoel (15) and Adriaan Kruger (14) were the only batsmen to reach double figures. The best bowlers for Mr X were Miguel Machado (2-0-11-3) and Jean Botha (2-0-17-2).

Mr X made easy work of chasing the target and reached it in the 8th over with both openers, Miguel Machado (54) and Marco Vosloo (15), not losing their wickets. Mr X won the game by 10 runs.
