Five men will  appear again ;today  in the Dannhauser Court for the murder of the two local men, Venktas Govender (87) and Piet Maré.
The double murder stunned the town. Mr Govender, a well-known taxi driver, was beaten up and succumbed to his injuries.
His car was found near the entrance to Emafusini.
Mr Maré was attacked in Durnacol two days after Mr Govender’s murder.
He was stabbed to death shortly after locking up his shop which is in front of his house.
The men appeared in court on September 23.
The suspects are Sabelo Bongani Kubheka (24), Sipho Hlatshwayo (24), Mondli Brian Gamede (24), Allen Sandiso
Mabaso (20) and Bonginkosi Sithebe (41).
All are from the Newcastle area.
Police are still looking for a sixth suspect.
Two of the men have already confessed and pleaded guilty. The suspects have many more pending cases against them.
Items allegedly stolen from several members of the community were found at the suspects’ residences.
