Water level in Spioenkop not a concern to officials
Despite Spioenkop Dam being over 66% full, water officials say that normal summer rain will increase water levels

The water level in Spioenkop Dam is currently sitting at 66.2%, but it looks emptier when you see the dam yourself.
Statistics show that, at this time last year, the dam was sitting at 85.7%, so it’s down by almost 20%.
At this stage, the water level in the dam is not critical, as officials say it is the end of winter and KZN has a summer rainfall which should increase the water levels and fill up the dam.
Last week’s stats show that the dam was 67.9% full, so it has dropped by over a per cent in just 1 week.
