The official launch of 15th East Coast Radio Toy Story with Game campaign took place at the station’s headquarters on October 5.

The annual corporate social investment initiative is aimed providing a brand new toy to children in government hospitals, children’s homes and orphanages in KwaZulu-Natal.

Cash donations help sustain child-headed households during the end-of-year school holidays. Each food parcel costs R350 and can feed a family of four people for six weeks.

“We are always incredibly humbled by the kindness and generosity shown by people from all across KZN during this annual initiative,” said East Coast Radio General Manager, Boni Mchunu. “Listeners go all out to help us and our key sponsor, Game, make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children.”

Speaking at the launch, Ms Mchunu extended her heartfelt thanks to the following stakeholders; Game, Dawn Wing, Red Cross Air Mercy Services and Champ Marketing.

“Game is delighted to be part of Toy Story for the fifth year running,” said Game Marketing and Customer Director, Mark Turner. “This is one of the campaigns that are close to our hearts as it proof of the heights that can be attained through the collective efforts of the people of South Africa.”

Last year, listeners, schools and businesses donated 31 000 new toys and helped collect more than R1.7-million. The money was used to put together 4685 food parcels.

As is tradition, East Coast Radio will broadcast live from Newcastle on October 23 from 12pm to 3pm, giving businesses and residents a chance to get involved.

To donate a new toy or make a cash contribution, visit a Game store near you. Banking details and further information are available at www.ecr.co.za.
