Forget ‘water-shedding’, our old friend ‘load-shedding’ may be back

Little rain and now we may have load-shedding too?

Eskom issued a high-risk load-shedding warning this morning.

South Africans have been asked not to use air-conditioners and pool pumps in hot weather conditions across the country.

Rather Eskom urged electricity users to consider more energy-efficient ways of keeping cool.

It has been over two months since the country has experienced any load-shedding.

Rain fell in the Ladysmith area for barely a few minutes last night. “There was not enough rain to fill a cup of water,” laughed one resident. “Looks like water-shedding is here to stay over the weekend.”

Parts of Ladysmith had no water this morning, despite the water-shedding schedule indicating that water would be on.
