Waffles in the park

Last Wednesday, youngsters taking advantage of the lovely weather and the school holidays at the park in Crawford Street, found out just how wickedly delicious waffles could be.

With the recent heatwave beating down on Newcastillians, Fahema Peer has come up with an original concept to sweeten the sweltering heat.

Mrs Peer is the owner of a travelling waffle franchise, administering the proverbial spoon full of sugar.

“Durban has a such a shop, and I thought, ‘why not bring it to Newcastle?’ and I bought the franchise,” she said.

Last Wednesday, youngsters taking advantage of the lovely weather and the school holidays at the park in Crawford Street, found out just how wickedly delicious waffles could be.

“I am obsessed with waffles. What isn’t there to enjoy about waffles? You can be so creative with them,” Mrs Peer laughed.

With waffles covered in ice cream, chocolate and strawberries, children at the park really enjoyed their day in the sun.
