October 20 is Talana Day – the day Dundee hit the headlines with the battle between the defending British and the attacking Boers – it was the first ‘real’ battle of the Anglo Boer War.

To mark the anniversary, Talana Museum officially opened the new extended display.  Curator, Pam McFadden, paid tribute to Pat Rundgren and all Museum staff who worked tirelessly to prepare the display which was marred by the shocking theft two weeks ago of all the medals that were to be put in the cabinet.

Local historian actor, Paul Garner, gave a narration as the Anglican Vicar Bailey who stood with his congregation and town during the seven-month occupation of Dundee – whose name was changed to Meyersdorp – following the British retreat after the battle of Talana.  Do pay a visit to Talana and admire the new display:
