Correctional Services show their generous side
Full school uniforms were donated to 16 learners.

Another initiative of clothing a school child has been taken by the Department of Correctional Services. The effort once again, put smiles on the faces of educators and pupils fat Morningside School. Full school uniforms were donated to 16 learners.
The Regional Commissioner of Correctional Services, M Nxele, first saw the school when the Department performed an entertainment item during the World Aids Day event held in Glencoe. He noticed the state of some of the learners’ uniforms which showed they were from destitute families.
He and his fellow officials decided to provide assistance.
Acting Area Commissioner, RS Mchunu, when addressing learners and parents on behalf of the Regional Commissioner, said that these ‘remarkable contributions are a milestone in encouraging pupils to perform well at school’.
“A well-dressed pupil is a sign of confidence being restored. “We urge parents to play their role in ensuring that students attend school regularly.”Morningside school principal, Mrs Gwebu, and parents thanked DCS for working tirelessly in providing help to these leaders of tomorrow.
“We all know that the future of this country belongs to the youth and we should all play an integral part in taking this forward,” Mrs Gwebu said. During Mandela Month the Department also lent a helping hand to about 100 needy learners, R10 000, collected and donated by officials, was used to purchase the school uniforms.
