Francis Road turned into a river of water

Purified clean drinking water going down the drain

At about half past 3 this morning a pipe burst in Francis Road, it took uThukela a whopping 5 hours to shutdown the leak.

The water had been flowing freely down Poort Road unchecked.

Due to the current drought a plumber is on 24/7 standby to repair leaks, however according to a source, the plumber was informed it was a broken meter and not a burst pipe and it took him a while to get a crew together to effectively respond.

IFP councillor, Abbas Warasally complained about the “waste of previous water and the delay in uThukela’s response.”

The leak may have an adverse effect on this afternoons water supply.
