Vryheid High School – 2015 nears its end

A FORMER Vryheid High School pupil, Norman Meyer, has achieved success in his career.
Together with a partner, Abrie von Wielligh, they started a furniture factory in George, ‘Meyer von Wielligh’. For two years in a row they have won the award for the best furniture at the 100% Design Furniture South Africa exhibition. They design extraordinary pieces of furniture as well as beautiful kitchens.
In November ‘Meyer von Wielligh’ presented their South African design at Christie’s auction house, London, a first for any African design gallery. Southern Guild showcased works by 12 South African designers. Norman and his partner showed a table called ‘The Battleship’. This table was made of a huge oak tree that fell and flattened six cars in York Street, George, on November 13, 2013. They are proud to announce that the ‘Battleship Table’ sold for $30 820 at Christie’s Auctions in London! Well done, Norman and Abrie!

The year book of 2015 will be available by the end of November. It offers a very informative summary of all the highlights of the year and can serve as an excellent way to save memories of this year. Besides class, group and team photos it also offers the history of this year in photos that most learners are not even aware were taken. Many surprises in store! Be sure to buy the yearbook so that one day you can show your children what a star you were.
