ON Saturday, November 7, the annual Monument Primary Mixed Doubles Tennis Tournament was held at the Country Club in Ladysmith.
It was a round robin mixed couples’ tournament for A and B division couples. Six different schools took part in the tournament. Keegan Gevers, a Grade 3 pupil and Kayla Olivier who is presently in Grade 4, represented Michaelis School. They took part in the B division and were the youngest couple on the day, competing against Grade 5 and 7 players.
It was an extremely hot and windy day and children had to work extra hard on the court, fighting against the strong winds! They played six matches of which they won two and only just lost the other four by match point.
Congratulations to Monument Primary who won the A and B division in the tournament and for hosting such a well organised event. They played a fantastic game of tennis!

McCarthy Inyanga Michaelis Challenge: On Saturday, November 21, Michaelis Schule will be hosting their annual McCarthy Inyanga Michaelis Challenge. This event will take place at Bloemveld Dam, bring the whole family along and enjoy this day together. There will be various mountain bike races as well as runs and walks. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we’ve had to cancel the swim. Online entries will close on Wednesday, November 18 and there are free T-shirts on offer to the first 100 entries, so get them in ASAP.
