51-year-old arrested with 3 unlicensed firearms

The firearms will be sent away for ballistic tests to determine whether they have been used to commit any crimes

A 51-year-old was arrested in possession of 3 unlicensed  firearms and 88 rounds of ammunition today (November 12).

The arrest was made as a result of the Ladysmith Tactical Response Team (TRT) and Upper Tugela Borderline Control following up on information about the whereabouts of unlicensed firearms.

This led them to a homestead in the Isandlwana area.

A licensed firearm belonging to the suspect was also seized.

The suspect is set to appear in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court this morning.

The firearms will be sent away for ballistic tests to determine whether they have been used to commit any crimes.
