Tomorrow, Saturday, November 14, will see Dundee’s first Old Town Market on Beaconsfield Street.

The road will be closed from the traffic circle on Gladstone Street to the Courier office.
Colourful stalls will light up the area as local crafters showcase their talent.

Organiser, Lani van der Mescht says: “We have the following stalls – Crizanne Botes will be there with really special things you have never seen! Carmane Creations have scarves and home decor that is one of a kind. Honey jewellery will be on display as all as Michele Hamman with printed ribbons and material.
“The Fouries from Meadows Leather will be there as well as the Theunissen’s with their new framing business. We also have Lizelle Bester from Newcastle with decor items. Then we have our special stalls – biscuits like just the SAVF Service Centre, Glencoe can bake. Esther Craffert with Wild Wheels and Cakes by Edy. We have fresh fruit and veggies and strawberry plants. And for the hunger – pancakes, koeksisters from the Hervormde Kerk ladies, fudge and biltong, potato spirals and vetkoek.

“We have samoosas, chilli bites and boereworsrolle. Tannie Niekie is coming from Vryheid with nougat and Fatima Peer will be there with Wicked Waffles. And come enjoy a cup of tea and slice of cake at the tea garden! Do not miss out on all the fun!

Cakes byEdy is having a cupcake icing competition and ALL the entry proceeds will be donated to the Dundee SPCA! The competition will take place at 10:30 at the street fair. The four age groups will be 3-6 years, 7-10 years, 11-14 years and 15+ years. Entry fee is R10 but age group 15+ is R20. Prices will be won in each age group for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.  Only 20 places are available in each age group!!! Best of all… after the competition you get to keep and eat your cupcake!
So… now we also have Angella de Jager that has an arty stall on our big day! At 10am we have the Gregory brothers doing real boeremusiek and at 11am Patsy Shrikrishan is bringing her Bollywood girls for some dancing.
And remember, Father Christmas will be there too – handing out sweets and other surprises to the kids.
Beaconsfield Street is indeed the place to be on Saturday morning.
