Anglers bait good action
The next official fixture of the APL is League 4 at Richgate Park on January 10, 2016.

The third round of the VME League at Sandford fished on November 8 produced some outstanding catches as the clubs went out seeking glory in a bid to top the league log table.
A rejuvenated Challengers team fielded a full side with some new recruits wishing to make their mark in the Angling Professional League (APL) felt.
Stillwaters were equally determined to cause an upset on the day giving the more fancied teams a run for their money.
After many seasons, the fish seemed to be on the bite as Breakwaters weighed in with 197 points, followed by Challengers on 151 points and Stillwaters on 108 points.
The long queues of fish made sure that the officials had their work cut out recording the never-ending string of keep nets.
The stand out angler of the day was Kaveer Singh of Breakwaters Angling Club who raked in 30 points.
He was awarded the “orange” and “purple” caps as he was crowned “angler of the day” and the overall log leader.
He also pocketed R200 and an outright trophy for his outstanding achievements. Ebrahim Mia top scored for Challengers with 22 points while Barge Ramlal recorded 17 points for Stillwaters.
Uthveer Buduram caught an impressive eel which tipped the scale at 1,750kg. Suleman Limbada of Challengers caught the heaviest carp weighing 3,5kg while his team mate Ebrahim Mia weighed the heaviest Barbel of 5,9kg.
The top five anglers of the day for Breakwaters and Stillwaters were Kaveer (30 pts); Shane Mangaroo (17 pts); Terence Chetty (17 points); Barge Ramlal (17 pts) and Gert Burger (17 points).
The current VME league log standing stand after three round of competition, sees Breakwaters on 16 points, followed by Challengers (14 pts) and Stillwaters (6 pts).
With three rounds of the league left, it makes for a gruelling season ahead as the APL gathers momentum with members continually joining its ranks.
The title contenders for the season thus far for both Breakwaters and Stillwaters include Minesh Gopi (heaviest scaled fish – 3,365kg); Amith Datadin (heaviest non-scaled fish – 5,475kg); Vicky Bhooli (heaviest scaly of 840 grams); Uthveer Buduram (heaviest eel – 1,750kg); Ethan Burger (rare specie – Kurper of 625kg and junior angler of year on 8 points); Ossie Oosthuizen (Champion of Champion); Kidd Rampersadh (Senior of Year – 8 pts) while Kaveer Singh is in contention for several titles including the highest points scorer – 30 points); League Champion on 37 points; Most fish caught (18 fish) and the coveted title for the “Angler of the Year” on 45 points.
The next major event of the APL is the hosting of their inaugural Open Competition on 29 November at Sandford.
