Early mornings for Vryheid mountain bikers
The 94.7 Road Cycle Challenge taking place in Johannesburg is a big event on the cycle calendar each year. In recent years, a mountain biking event takes place the week before the road race.
THE early light and summer mornings have been so warm and beautiful these last two weeks that it has been a pleasure just to be out there at 5:00am.
And to be on a mountain bike or in running shoes at that time of the morning is only a double pleasure. Vryheid mountain bikers have been doing near daily inspections of Bloemveld dam water levels and we are also praying for much needed rain that we trust will come.
October 31 saw the Dumbe Mountain challenge take place in Paulpietersburg and a big group of Vryheid cyclists took part in the beautiful and hard mountain bike event. Their hard work on the mountain trail was rewarded with beautiful views! Congratulations to everyone that finished in such excellent times.
The 94.7 Road Cycle Challenge taking place in Johannesburg is a big event on the cycle calendar each year. In recent years, a mountain biking event takes place the week before the road race. Gerhard Engelbrecht completed both these events this year with an excellent time of just over three hours for the road race. Well done, Big G.
Paul Steffenson also completed the 94.7 road race in a legend ride with his brother on a hard tail mtb! Respect, Paul!
To all who have entered for the Michaelis Challenge this weekend, safe riding. Trusting all that training has paid off. Looking forward to the results!
