Synergy students take the floor
"All the gymnasts excelled and really rose to the challenge of a competition. Well done everyone!" said Julia Olivier.
On November 10, Synergy Gymnastics Club held its first competition at Michaelis Schule.
Nineteen excited gymnasts competed in this Artistic Gymnastics Competition. There were three different groups. Grade R showcased the floor, beam and handstand and only competed on bar. Owami Mthetwa was awarded gold, Megan Gevers came second with silver and Calvin Muller was placed third receiving a bronze medal. Zifikile Zwane, Luke Minott and Marthinus van Niekerk all received bronze medals.
Level one’s overall winner was Ivana Vyncke who received gold, Danika Vyncke and Hannah Taylor shared second place which earned them both silver and Tanya Fourie came third and was awarded a bronze medal. Rehnuma Patel, Mia Myburgh and Luthfiya Manjoo all received bronze medals. Apparatus prizes went to Ivana Vyncke for floor and beam, Danika Vyncke for bar and Rehnuma Patel for handstand. Most improved gymnast for level one was Hannah Taylor.
Level two’s overall winner was Alexa Olivier who was awarded a gold medal. Daniela Vonkeman and Guiliana Vyncke shared second place and received silver. Third place went to Tanya Fourie who received bronze. Thandi Kunene, Sianda Zwane and Kelsi Hellberg all received bronze medals. Apparatus prizes went to Daniela Vonkeman for beam; Sianda Zwane for vault, Guiliana Vyncke for bar and Alexa Olivier for floor. Most improved gymnast for level two was Tanya Fourie.
