Hertzog Pre-Primary, together with CANSA, held its own cancer fun walk to educate pupils about cancer on November 20.
Pupils of the school were very excited about the visit from CANSA and their mascot, Toktokkie. The children walked around the school premises.
CANSA staff encouraged the children to play a food game, to help them identify what food was good or bad for their bodies. CANSA Community Mobiliser, Estella Naicker, told them about the importance of using sunscreen when exposed to the blazing sun, and how bad smoking was.
Principal, Karen Seager said a variety of cancers could be prevented by avoiding substances that aggravated the disease, and to follow a healthy life style.
“Children need to know from an early age about making healthy choices,” she concluded.
