Public Safety Officer Freddie Halgreen saved a newborn baby from a pit last night in the Winterton area.
After receiving a call from police, Officer Halgreen (Superintendent: Disaster Management & Emergency Personnel) immediately responded.
When he arrived at the scene, the baby was alive. The infant was transported to Emmaus Hospital, but died this morning in hospital.
Police are investigating.
