On Friday, November 27, Drakensberg Secondary School (DSS) was flanked by a series of trophies and acknowledgements for their outstanding performance in the GET excellence awards in the Uthukela District.

Drakensberg Secondary obtained first position overall, also earning the honour of permanently retaining the floating trophy for the THIRD time in a row.

The awards were handed after selected top learners wrote standardised departmental tests set by the Education Department in various learning areas.
The following learners and teachers received awards:

1) Ayanda Vilakazi – third position – Isizulu First Additional Language – M S Mabaso (educator).

2) Ria Maniram – second position – English Home Language – N Vahed (educator).

3) Tauheeda Jhatam – second position – Afrikaans First Additional Language – MS Ramroop (educator).

4) Temisha Pillai – first position – Technology – FH Khumalo (educator).

5) Prajna Sewraj – first position – Life orientation – R Maharaj (educator).

The school would like to thank all stakeholders, and parents for the continued support.

Mr Sewlal, Principal, extended his heartfelt gratitude to all, he attributes the phenomenal success to his band of dedicated educators and the diligence of pupils.

Once again, maintaining the legendary motto of Drakensberg Secondary, the flag of glory is hoisted: “Per aspera ad astra…with sweat and toil to the stars”.
