Msinga  police  have recovered two stolen vehicles and unlicensed firearms following information received from Tracker after a vehicle was stolen earlier in the Weenen area.

Policce proceeded to a homestead in  the Mkhuphulangwenya area, where a suspected stolen kombi was found in  an unlocked garage.  Another Nissan hard body was also found at the premises. Both vehicles were stripped off their license discs and registration numbers.

The Toyota kombi was stolen in Weneen area in the early hours of today. The Nissan hard body was  stolen in Marianhill in August 2013. The members searched the premises and found an R1 rifle, an Astra revolver and a 9mm pistol, concealed in the house. A total of 20 live rounds of ammunition was recovered.

Six cell phones, one pair of handcuffs, three car stereos, six speakers, two binoculars and other items were recovered. A total  of R1558 was also recovered from the house. The recovered firearms will be taken  to ballistics to ascertain if it was used in any commission of the crime in the country.

The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni applauded the Umsinga members for the recovery of the firearms and stolen properties. “We are confident that suspects will be arrested soon,” she said.
