The ‘plaster-in-the-arm’ burglar who carried out two daylight housebreakings in Dundee and Glencoe in November was jailed today for two years.

Scott Krusberski appeared in the Glencoe Magistrate’s Court where Magistrate Mazibuko put him behind bars for the next two years.  This follows on for the three months he was sentenced for when he appeared in the Dundee Magistrate’s Court previously.

Krushberski was found guilty of breaking into the De Beer Street home of Biggarsberg School teacher on November 18.  The teacher had left for work.  When she returned home, she discovered that the back door had been smashed open.

His Tata car was seen outside the house by witnesses.

Computer equipment, computer games and jewellery to the value of around R88 000 was stolen.

Three days later, Krushberkski broke into the home of a Dundee teacher, Cheryl Elliott, on Iris Street also during the day.  A flatscreen television set, DVD player and other goods were stolen.

This time, the break-in was caught on camera by  Cheryl’s neighbours.  On the Sunday, November 22, the car was seen parked in the vicinity of Browning and Union Streets.

Witnesses alerted the police and Glencoe detective, Warrant Officer Maharaj, who was investigating the De Beer Street burglary, reacted with colleague, Detective Mngomezulu.

“I saw a man with a plaster of Paris casing on his arm, smoking near the parked car.  I asked him if he wanted a lift and he replied yes, as he had run out of petrol.  As soon as he climbed into the car, I introduced myself and informed me that I was charging of the burglary in Glencoe.”

Computer equipment and the flatscreen television were found in his Tata.

A trip to Newcastle followed where Krushberski took police to Cash Crusaders and Cash Converters where he had sold the stolen goods, using his identity book to ensure that he looked above board.

Goods to the value of R55 000 were recovered. Meantime, Dundee SAPS charged him for the break in at Cheryl Elliott’s home.

“At least this is one burglar who will not be preying on innocent residents this festive season,” Detective Maharaj said.
