Water test reveals startling picture
The water is fit for human consumption but the picture is not prettypretty
There have been a flood of complaints about the taste of the water coming out of the taps. While uthukela Water has assured residents the water quality is well within safety standards, a test on the municipal water has revealed a startling picture of what we are consuming.
Anand Jhilmeet and his nephew who sell purified using the reversed osmosis process yesterday tested the contents, using a separator which revealed that there are about 239 million ppm , particles per million in the tap water.
This is in comparison to the 4 ppm reading from the processed water. The tapwater’s contents which include chemicals used to kill algae in the water, exacerbated by the drought, cause the water to boil during the separation test. The processed water remains cool during the separation test.
