KwaZulu-Natal Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit managed to secure seven life sentences during the month of November 2015 for sexually related offences. The members worked tirelessly, arresting a total of 270 offenders for various sexual related crimes in the province such as rape, attempted rape, assault, kidnapping, sexual assaults, violation of protection order and other cases.

The members secured 62 convictions, which included seven life sentences as well as a total of 788 years imprisonment for various crimes.

“We will not be deterred from protecting our children and women from sexual predators. We will do everything within our control to ensure that offenders are prosecuted and kept behind bars. The efforts by KwaZulu-Natal FCS to solve these cases is commended and we applaud their dedication to keep our communities safe during this festive season. We need to ensure that we sustain these efforts 365 days a year,” said Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni.
