Burst pipe in Mason Road leaves parts of town without water
The bust pipe has been described by uThukela as a main pipeline feeding the Observation Hill area

This morning shortly after 10am a major pipe feeding Observation Hill burst. The pipe burst was in Mason Road.
The pipe was left exposed by a housing contractor who according to officials failed to rehabilitate the area after exposing the pipe.
The pipe which has been exposed to the elements for over a year collapsed sending a 10 metre long section of the pipe plummeting down an embankment
Water could be seen gushing down the hillside like a waterfall.
People may experience water shortages longer than normal today as repair work to the pipe is expected to take several hours with full water services only expected to be restored tomorrow.
