Estcourt High School learner Paballo Likotsi’s calm and unassuming manner belies the excitement and joy that the 18-year-old is feeling after obtaining five distinctions in the 2015 grade 12 examination.

With A’s in life sciences, life orientation, isiZulu, physical science and geography, the young man has been placed fifth in the Estcourt circuit.

He says he is happy with his results, especially since it was unexpected and plans on studying medicine at Wits.

“I want to specialise in pharmacology and learn how to make pills and drugs that can help people,” he explained.

Paballo’s advice to grade 12s is to focus.

“Forget about social life and focus on your school work and you will probably receive better results than me. Make a habit of studying, stop getting into relationships and making friends,” he said.
