Good news for Councillors who can expect a pay hike

Speaker, S'duduzo Mdluli, had strong words for his colleagues warning them that Councillors must serve all the people of Endumeni and not to allow political activities to interfere with council processes.

There was some good news at the first Endumeni Special Council meeting of the year. It was announced that, in accordance to Government regulations, Councillors are to get an increase in their salaries ranging from between 5,5% to 6%.
Travelling allowances are also to be upped. Bonga Mkhize, chief financial officer, told the meeting that the increase had been budgeted for.
Speaker, S’duduzo Mdluli, had strong words for his colleagues warning them that Councillors must serve all the people of Endumeni and not to allow political activities to interfere with council processes.
Grants-in-aid to community organisations were also discussed and the matter has been carried over to the next week. Council has around R300 000 to hand out to various community-based organisations.
