Mr Mchunu commemorates the 100 mark

The Wembezi Multipurpose Centre was packed with well-wishers in a cheerful atmosphere at the 100th birthday celebration of Mr Mahobe Joseph Mchunu on Saturday, January 16.
Mr Mahobe is the father of the MEC for Transport, Community Safety, and Liaison Thembinkosi Willies Mchunu. Amongst the many present at this momentous occasion were Premier of KwaZulu-Natal Senzo Mchunu, local councillors, Mayor Bongani Dlamini, iNkosi Khumalo, Mayor of Imbabazane Phindile Strydom and many other dignitaries who sent messages of goodwill to the centenarian.
The Premier said: “Mr M Mchunu has experienced both apartheid and democracy in South Africa and this gives us hope that there are people who lived under difficult conditions and still survive up to this day.”
“God created Mr Mchunu with a purpose to reach this age. It is important to take care of your life and avoid excessive consumption of alcohol, drugs and eat well,” the Premier highlighted.
