It’s all in the Bagrath genes
The three share an inseparable bond
The Bagrath trio are no new faces to the community. The siblings were at the top of their class in their respective years.
Prathna had her fair share of limelight long before her sister, Shivana and brother Vedarsh did. 21-year-old Prathna matriculated at Drakensberg Secondary School (DSS) in 2012 and is currently doing her fourth year of Pharmacy studies at Rhodes University.
The second born, 19-year-old Shivana matriculated at DSS in 2014. She took up Medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand since then. 17-year-old Vedarsh completed matric last year at DSS.
He is still deliberating about what to study this year, but said it’s a choice between Actuarial Science or Medicine. The siblings made their family, school, community and most definitely themselves extremely proud after bagging awards for being among the top matric learners in KwaZulu-Natal during their schooling years.
Vedarsh and Shivana agreed that their ‘big sis’ led the way in terms of their outstanding matric results. The three share an inseparable bond. The girls say they don’t go a day without checking in on the rest of the family when out of town studying. They say the key to it all is offering one another never-ending support
Verdash’s favourite past time is playing video games. When she is not studying,
you’d find Prathna with her nose in a book, while Shivana is the active one on social media and enjoys watching YouTube videos.
The three describe success as: ‘reaching goals one sets and not what the next person expects of you.
“When you harness your ambition and put your mind to something, you’ll find a way to get there.”
The Bagrath family always aim to live by these words: “To strive to seek to find and not to yield” – Alfred Lord Tennyson.
The siblings say as far as they can recall they have been motivated by the above words. That’s not the only thing that motivates the three.
“My grandparents and parents continue to motivate us, the key to it all is education,” said Shivana.
