Not a very pleasant ‘Welcome to Estcourt’
Surely this is not the kind of image and reputation we'd want visitors to have of our town
Lorne Street features the beautiful Alice Bridge, an iconic Estcourt landmark, and a treasure-trove of Estcourt’s history at Fort Durnford.
However, as visitors and locals travel into the business district from the N3 and R103, an unkempt and unwelcoming ‘Welcome to Estcourt Umshezi Municipality‘ sign greets you.
Commenting on this, a resident who would like to remain anonymous, said she is disgusted and embarrassed by the knee-high weeds and grass.
As pictured the weeds have grown to new heights, partly covering the wording of the welcome sign.
“How ironic that nearby is an Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) sign board, surely this is not the kind of image and reputation we’d want visitors to have of our town,” said the disappointed resident.
Umtshezi Municipality has been informed of this concern.
