Four months ago, Piper was fighting for her life, helpless and trapped inside a drain in Ladysmith. Today (August 28), this beautiful little mama dog is no longer frightened. On the contrary, Piper is now walking into a home of her own, surrounded by the love she has waited so patiently for.

After spending four long months at the Ladysmith Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) and almost being overlooked by potential adopters, Piper’s heartbreaking story took a positive turn this week when the Ladysmith Gazette shared her search for a ‘forever home’.

Today, her wait finally came to an end when Mr Shattock opened both his heart and his home to her, giving this remarkable dog the second chance she so richly deserves.

The Gazette story that changed everything

Earlier this week, the Ladysmith Gazette shared Piper’s story with readers as she continued her search for a warm and loving home.

The appeal was simple: someone needed to open their heart and give this ‘lovely little girl’ the second chance she deserved. Now that has happened!

Mr Shattock has officially adopted Piper, giving her the loving family she has been waiting for.

For Piper, this marks the end of a long and uncertain journey, and the beginning of a brand-new chapter.

“She finally has a home”

The joy at the AACL was palpable as the staff celebrated Piper’s adoption.

“We are so grateful you chose to adopt and make Piper part of your family,” they exclaimed.

After long months of waiting, Piper is no longer simply the dog people would pass by at the shelter. She is now someone’s beloved family member.

AACL still needs your help

While Piper’s story has had a happy ending, there are still many dogs and puppies at the kennels waiting for their second chance as well.

The league is currently appealing for dog food, as new puppies are up for adoption and there is simply not enough food to meet their needs.
