Gambling for charity

Blackrock Casino hosted a thrilling roulette tournment on Friday evening, as part of the Tsogo Sun Roulette Masters 2016 competition.
“We wanted to create a hype around the group tournament, which started on January 11,” said Veneshrie Chetty, Blackrock Casino’s Marketing Manager.
Mrs Chetty said the competition which was held on Friday was a way of showing gambling was also a form of entertainment.
“It is not only about winning, but rather about having fun.”
Five couples were invited to participate in the roulette competition, of which two of the couples were from the top five finalists who were selected to take part in the Tsogo Sun Roulette Masters 2016 tournament.
Creating a vibrant energy at the event, guests had to follow clues to find out more about the tournament.
By the end of the challenging treasure hunt, guests made their way to the roulette tables where they got a feel for the ‘game of chance’.
Players competed against each other for R5 000, which would then go to the contender’s charity of choice. Faizel Cassim secured the coveted first place, and donated the cash to Nil Desperandum.
Roulette enthusiasts can buy into the roulette masters qualifying round with only R100.
After entering the tournament, participants stood a chance of securing themselves a spot in the top 21 and would be competing in the Blackrock unit final.
A total of R2.5-million in prize money is up for grabs in the challenge, of which R1.5-million will go to the winner, who will be competing at the grand final at Silverstar Casino, Krugersdorp.
