LHS holds annual Valentine’s dance
The pupils who attended arrived in couples or in groups of friends, and some found their ‘dates’ on the dance floor
To celebrate the day of love, Ladysmith High School (LHS) held its annual Valentine’s Ball last Friday night.
This is definitely one of the highlights of the year for the boys and girls. It’s an excuse to get all dressed up and have a party, not to mention the fact that romance is in the air (albeit under the watchful supervision of the teachers).
The gals get to scope out the guys in their best attire, and the would-be princes wonder if they’ll find their Cinderella.

For the Grade 9s, it is their first experience of young love, while the matrics have their last opportunity to dance the night away with their high-school love. The Grade 8s, however, are not yet deemed to be mature enough to understand love and thus are not allowed to attend this annual event on LHS’s calendar.
Some girls dressed to impress with the full up-do, high heels, make-up and ball gowns, while others rather felt the need to be comfortable. The gentlemen impressed their dates by handing over flowers and teddy bears, making for a most memorable occasion!
